This Acquired Brain Injury training course has been designed for individuals working with brain injury survivors in care settings. Some of the individuals this ABI training course would be suitable for include acquired brain injury rehabilitation support carers and/or care workers in general. We also cater for local authorities who need their employees to undertake Acquired Brain Injury Training.
An acquired brain injury can significantly affect the life of the individual that it affects. Many of the effects of a brain injury are not always obvious and so can be hard to spot and understand. It can be a very complex condition to both treat and support. Brain injuries can affect relationships as well as practical skills and employment. Learning how to support the recovery process or have effective strategies for living with a brain injury are key.
Our Acquired Brain Injury Training pays particular attention to the cognitive, emotional and behavioural challenges that people with acquired brain injury suffer from and discuss options to deal with each of them. Common conditions include memory issues and unusual levels of fatigue. With a focus on understanding the cognitive problems that occur after a brain injury, we will help delegates support brain injury survivors using a variety of strategies.
We also discuss the personal care needs of individuals with an acquired brain injury. This includes rehabilitation and the importance of promoting independence of the individual. We make delegates reflect on two facts: some brain injury effects can improve over time with rehabilitation and support. But, some acquired brain injury effects can be lifelong and will necessitate life adjustments to cope. We discuss how delegates can facilitate both situations.
